We are in the process of updating our risk assessment in line with the latest Government guidance and the local alert level – which is currently Tier 1 (Medium). In light of increased cases both nationally and across the district, we are putting additional measures in place to further reduce the risk of transmitting the virus. These measures will be discussed with staff prior to the staff training on Monday 2nd November. Once finalised, along with the Parent Handbook, the updated risk assessment will be placed on the school website.
One of the measures we will be implementing from Tuesday 3rd November is that all staff (unless they are exempt) will be wearing face coverings when outside of their class bubbles. In order to prevent face coverings having to be put on and taken off repeatedly, staff will need to wear them at the beginning and end of each school day when collecting or delivering pupils/students to and from their transport/parents. Please note, there are certain exemptions to this guidance including when staff are supporting Deaf or Hearing Impaired pupils/students. These measures include staff working at our Garlinge satellite provision.
Whilst our pupils/students are exempt from wearing face coverings, any student from Year 7 upwards who has the capacity to do so safely, can choose to wear a face covering when in communal areas (moving within corridors). Please be aware that students will need to be able to put on/take off their masks without support and will always be encouraged to wash their hands thoroughly before and after doing so. We have a small supply of plastic wallets we can distribute to pupils for them to place masks in when not wearing them.
I hope that you all enjoy the rest of the half-term break and I look forward to seeing pupils/students back on Tuesday 3rd November.
