School Update - 20th March 2020

In support of the national effort, the school will be opening in a limited capacity on Monday. We are able to accommodate children of key workers and other categories identified within the government’s vulnerable groups.

The ability to continue to offer this provision will remain under constant daily review. It is very much dependent on the number of staff we have in school at any one time. There will be a maximum number of pupils that we can accommodate based on the amount of staff we have in school and the specialism of those staff to safely meet the social, emotional and health needs of the pupils at school. We will, at all times, follow government advice regarding social distancing.

Any child who can be accommodated at school on Monday will receive a call this evening informing them of this. If you are not contacted, please do not send your child into school on Monday. Pupils attending on Monday that would normally attend our Garlinge satellite provision should attend at the Foreland Fields School site until further notice.

Whilst there have been no confirmed cases, we still have a number of pupils and staff self isolating due to presenting with symptoms of COVID-19 (coronavirus). In 2 of these cases, we have consulted with Public Health England (PHE). It of the utmost importance that any child who is displaying a temperature or cough is not sent into school. Should your child, or any member of your family, display any of these symptoms you must follow PHE advice to self isolate.

Any child not now attending school will, if they haven’t already, receive a work pack from their class teacher.

I will ensure I keep in regular contact via ClassDojo and the website and, of course please feel free to contact us on the generic school email address:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful staff here at Foreland Fields who all give that bit extra to ensure that your children have a positive experience at school. This week has not been easy for any of us and I have asked a lot from them. Not once did I hear the slightest complaint or grumble. I feel so blessed to work with such passionate and caring individuals.

To all parents/carers and your wonderful children, everyone here wishes you all the best of health.
