Guidance on Infections in Schools

Please read the ‘Guidance on Infection Control in Schools and other Childcare Settings’ document which provides guidance on:

  • preventing the spread of infections
  • which diseases to vaccinate for
  • how long to keep children away from school
  • infections such as athlete’s foot, flu, German measles, head lice, impetigo, TB

Should your child develop any bugs or viruses, please can I ask that you keep them at home for the period stated in the guidance. Many of our pupils and students are vulnerable to infections and these can spread quickly in a school environment. Please remember your child should be kept away from school for 48 hours from the last period of sickness or diarrhoea.
