Privacy Notices

The UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 sets out that any processing of personal data must be lawful, fair, and transparent.

Providing accessible information to individuals about the use of their personal information (data) is a key element of their legal right to transparency. The most common way to inform individuals about the use of their personal data is through a privacy notice. This is sometimes referred to as a fair processing notice.

A privacy notice provides clear and transparent information to individuals about how personal data is collected, used or otherwise processed, and to what extent personal data are, or will be, processed.

This is so that individuals are made aware of risks, rules, safeguards and rights in relation to the processing of their personal data and how to exercise their rights in relation to such processing. Articles 1213, and 14 and associated recitals of UK GDPR provide detailed instructions on how to comply.
