Water Issue
12th Jan 2026
You may be aware that both Southern Water and South East Water are experiencing a range of complications with the supply of water after Storm Goretti. It appears that this centres around pumping issues, meaning that there may be disruption to the pumping of clean water to homes, schools, businesses etc in the area. Storm Goretti has also affected the ability of the companies to treat water at the normal rate at the treatment works. In addition, there have been a spate of burst pipes due to the freeze/thawing conditions.
We have been told by the local authority to be mindful of these issues as the situation is changing, especially for Canterbury, Sittingbourne and Thanet, which we have been told could experience disruption from tomorrow.
As a special school, we have been made aware that the water companies should prioritise us with the possibility of them supplying a water tanker on our site.
Whilst at this time we are not anticipating this, should we find that we have no water this could lead to us having to make the difficult decision to close.
We will obviously keep everyone informed via ClassDojo and this website of any issues as soon as we know ourselves.
